Dear Citizens of India,
Our political system and other administrative systems like grama panchayats are bottom-to-top approach. We elect our representatives to represent our views and problems in the appropriate forum, be it Parliament, State Legislatives or Grama Panchayats.
When the inhabitants of a particular area are confronted with a problem like electricity failure, water shortage etc, the problems have to be taken up with the representatives elected by them. Why should they block roads and cause undue hardship to the public, who have the same right to uninterrupted travel?
Who are the police to pacify the agitators, what powers do they have to represent their problems with appropriate authorities?
People who sell their franchise for a dime, without understanding their rights or being forreited of their right to raise a issue with their representatives resort to such human rights violation. It in itself is an infringement of the rights of other citizens.
Henceforth, if you have any problem, take the matter to your representative. If he doesn't take necessary steps, and is busy with contracts and bribes, ensure that he is not elected again. This applies to your ward member, MLA and MP.
Joseph
